Teddy Bear Kaleidoscope

At first glance I thought the works of Argentinian artist Agustina Woodgate were quilted blankets, when they're actually rugs. It doesn't matter though, because both share the same intent, which is to visually express personal histories and memories. Agustina sought to analyze this in her rugs through the use of old teddy bears. These rugs manage to remove the juvenile aspect of a teddy bear without stripping away the feeling of safety and comfort that only a favorite teddy bear can provide. Folk art has always intrigued me, and it's refreshing to see such a contemporary approach to an old practice. They look so cozy and welcoming, just like a teddy bear.
