Extreme Realism
A painstakingly realistic illustration can sometimes be too matter-of-fact. But Jenny Mortsell somehow transcends that in her delicately precise portraits, predominantly for fashion. Her drawings, which are simply the result of translating a photograph into an illustration, line by line, shade by shade, create something extremely vivid, almost hyper real. Jenny makes everything about the image seem more deliberate and conveys almost a reverence for the subject matter that may not exist in the original photograph.
